CAST Research Workshop with Prof. Cynthia Weber
CAST has the distinct pleasure of hosting Visuality, Security, and Documentaries - a CAST Research Workshop with Prof. Cynthia Weber. Tuesday, February 14, 2012, 9.00-16.30.
The centrality of images and visuality to world politics has been underscored again and again since the attacks on 9/11. Our recent visual memory includes the falling WTC Towers, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, the Muhammad Cartoons, the capture and killing of Gaddafi, and the protesters at Occupy Wall Street. This workshop provides a forum for further discussion of the security significance of images, for diplomacy, in documentaries, and as critical practice. Professor Cynthia Weber, one of the worlds leading IR theorists and a documentary filmmaker is visiting CAST, and will be joining the discussion of three papers and screen and discuss her recent work.
