NordSTEVA researchers contribute to new book on societal security
NordSTEVA-affiliated researchers Odd Einar Olsen, Kenneth Pettersen, Ole Andreas Engen, and Preben Lindøe from University of Stavanger's SEROS, have contributed to a new book on societal security.
The book focuses on how the Norweigian society today faces a range of threats from new and unforeseen sources. The threats necessitate actors at different levels to cooperate in new ways in order to plan and implement safety and security measures, and increase preparedness. Perspectives on Societal Security provides a good basis for understanding and reflecting on events and actions that may threaten infrastructure and key functions in society.
The book covers the following fields:
Risk and Security in Social Scientific Theory; Risk and Political Decision-Making; Security Management and Control; Vulnerability, Technology, and Organization; Preparedness, Emergencies and Crisis Management Tools in Risk Management; and Paradoxes and Dilemmas in Societal Security.
Perspectives on Societal Security is a textbook for undergraduate and graduate students. It also useful for managers and employees in the private and public sector and others who wish to be updated on an exciting and rapidly developing field of security and risk management.
